Improvement of smile aesthetics

Dental restorations have several applications and can be performed on both the front and back teeth. In many cases, direct composite restorations may be the most suitable treatment for general smile improvement, involving one or more front teeth, in a minimally invasive clinical procedure.

Caries treatment

Caries is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide and can affect one or more teeth from an apparently healthy dentition. Caries can affect both the outer layer of the tooth - the enamel - and the inner layer - the dentin. In both cases, the clinical procedure seeks to remove the affected tissue and reconstruct the missing tooth anatomy with a composite.

Correction of dental fractures

Restorations are also applied as a treatment option in cases of dental fractures. Whether following trauma or a fracture of an existing restoration, it is always possible and appropriate to choose a treatment option that best preserves the tooth. As such, composite restorations are usually indicated for the correction of these failures.

Replacement of dental amalgams

Composite restorations are also used as a treatment option in cases where it is necessary to replace dental amalgams that are fractured, maladjusted on the edges, unpolished or even when there are aesthetic indications for their replacement.

Application of ceramic fragments

Dental restorations can also be made thanks to the work of the laboratory, when it comes to so-called indirect restorations and the materials are different, particularly if they are ceramics. These restorations can be applied both in the reconstruction of devitalized teeth, also in cases of dental erosion or in the loss of one or more cusps of teeth.

Clinical Case 1

After a history of trauma and repeated reconstruction in composite of the area of ​​the tooth that presented the failure, the patient sought an aesthetic improvement and a better biomimicry in her right central incisor. The restoration was then redone, applying stratification and pigmentation techniques that made it possible to match the color of both central incisors.

Clinical Case 2

The patient attended the emergency consultation, following a fall that resulted in a fracture of her upper right central incisor. Despite the traumatic circumstances of the event, it was possible to reconstruct the tooth, following a totally painless procedure, with immediate aesthetic results. Dental reconstruction was limited to composite to the affected tooth region.

Clinical Case 3

In this case, the patient had two very worn molar teeth, with very bulky and aged restorations, and one of the two teeth had previously undergone root canal treatment. It was then necessary to recover the lost shape and strength, keeping the structures still healthy of the tooth to the maximum, in a minimally invasive procedure. The two indirect ceramic restorations served the purpose of treatment.

Clinical Case 4

The patient presented at the consultation with complaints of sensitivity associated with the two molar teeth which, after clinical observation, were found to have flaws in the amalgam restorations, present for more than 20 years. Given the dimensions of the restorations, it was decided to place ceramic fragments made by the laboratory and adhered to the surfaces of the teeth, thus ensuring the strength, function and aesthetics of these teeth.

Clinical Case 5

Dental restorations can also be applied to close spaces between teeth, as in the case of this patient. This conservative procedure involves two to three consultations: one that allows planning and preparing the treatment, a second in which the composites are stratified and biomimetic and a last consultation to definitively polish the restorations (the photo shown is still before polishing Final).

Clinical Case 6

The patient turned to our emergency department for the reconstruction of a tooth that had fractured as a result of trauma. High tooth sensitivity was the patient's main complaint. In that same consultation, it was possible to restore, thanks to a direct composite reconstruction, the shape and color of the tooth, but above all, immediately after the restoration was performed, the patient no longer felt any sensitivity.
